Delta Pilots Begin Voting on Strike Authorization

Delays and cancelations haven’t been uncommon for airlines in the United States around the earlier calendar year. Team shortages have intended a one concern, like a ability outage or a hurricane, could spark a cascade of scheduling difficulties throughout the region. Delta Air Traces pilots can now vote against or for authorizing a strike. The Air Line Pilots Affiliation, which signifies 14,600 Delta pilots, has been negotiating with Delta because February 2020. Talks were paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Negotiations resumed at the start off of the year, but both equally sides have failed to reach an arrangement.

Captain Jason Ambrosi, Chair of the Delta ALPA Master Executive Council, explained in a statement:

The ballot window for Delta pilots closes on Oct 31st at 2:00 p.m. ET. It is not unavoidable that the vote will consequence in a strike if the pilots vote to authorize a work stoppage. The Nationwide Mediation Board would make itself readily available to arbitrate the dispute. If that fails, there would be a 30-working day cooling-off time period, similar to what took spot ahead of the adverted railroad strike.
