The Gran Turismo racing simulator has been one of the best on the market for over 15 years. The game’s founder Kazunori Yamauchi posed a simple question to Ferrari: “Would you design your rendition of the ideal GT for us?” The Italian company rose to the task to produce its first-ever first-ever conceptual virtual model, called the Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo.

In-house Design
The Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo’s design was designed in-house by the Ferrari Centro Stile under the direction of Flavio Manzoni. The single-seater, closed cockpit racers takes its inspiration from 1960s and 70s’ Ferrari Sports Prototypes.
The rear aerodynamics were developed using concepts inspired by the Ferrari 499P, particularly in terms of the diffuser and the rear biplane wing. Lastly, the front S-Duct and the integrated air vents on the wheelarches boost aerodynamic efficiency and high-speed stability.

The interior has a purist, minimalist approach. The dashboard lines are clean and sparse incorporating transparent high-tech materials to reveal the mechanical components of the steering wheel.
Hybrid Power
The Ferrari Vision Gran Turismo sports the same 120-degree 3,0-litre turbo V6 as employed in the 296 GTB, 296 GTS and 296 GT3 that also powers the new 499P. However, in this installation the engine is tuned to deliver a massive 758 kW at 9 000 rpm, with an additional 240 kW available from three electric motors, one on the rear axle and one on each of the front wheels.
