A couple days right before Xmas previous calendar year I despatched out a Holiday getaway wish list from Hot Rod journal 1950, and casually described that I seriously preferred to share the 1951 model with Stroker McGurk’s record, but regrettably did not have that challenge. Santa will have to of listened to my cries, simply because a buddy recently gifted me the December ’51 Warm Rod magazine with Tom Medley’s ‘Christmas tree in a T’ protect. Inside of was a aspect tale on just one pretty clean up, very black, channeled 5 window coupe belonging to Ramblers CC president Fred Zaft of San Francisco. Why did that certain ’32 coupe and Fred’s name look so familiar? Then I remembered Joey briefly sharing about the Zaft coupe in his ‘Moment in Our Time’ tale. Delving even more back to 2006 I located a superb relationship by our resident Aussie warm rodder, Jimmy B. exactly where he had picked up a whole stash of early 50s Warm Rod publications from Mr. George Zaft of San Francisco- It was Fred’s cousin!
So I have shared the unique Dec ’51 tale of the automobile underneath, and leave you all with one particular dilemma: Where is the Fred Zaft Coupe now? With any luck , it is nonetheless intact and remaining savored somewhere in the world…
